Coney Island Hot Dog
Where it all began, bun, hotdog, mustard, Greenwood's Coney Island sauce, with chopped onion on top. Try this recipe first!
In a sauce pan, brown and crumble 1/4 to 1/2 lb. of lean ground beef, turkey, pork, or sausage until fully cooked. If not lean, drain after cooking. You may also make a veggie version by not adding meat.
Remove from heat and add 3 cups of cold water.
Add Greenwood's Coney Island Sauce Mix and stir until smooth.
Return to medium-high heat, stirring continuously, until sauce starts to bubble. Turn heat to low and simmer for 2 or 3 minutes, making sure nothing sticks to the bottom of the pan.
Remove from heat and be careful as the sauce is very hot!
Spoon sauce over the top of your favorite hot dog, add whatever else you like on your hot dog. We like them with diced onions on top! Some folks also add mustard.
